Green Leaf Therapy

Delivering Forest Therapy For All

‘Forest Bathing or shinrin-yoku is a way of walking in the woods that brings together ancient ways and wisdom with cutting edge environmental health science.’

– Yoshifumi Miyazaki

Practicing shinrin-yoku means spending time in nature, amongst the trees and grass, and mindfully engaging within a forest atmosphere or other natural environments. It is usually done by walking through a forest at a slow and gentle pace, without carrying any electronics, and taking the time to soak up the surrounding nature.

It involves using all five senses and letting nature enter through those senses. Some examples of exercising this can include:

  • Listening to forest sounds, i.e. birds and insects.

  • Touching the ground, the trees, and the leaves.

  • Smelling the flowers and other essential oils of the plants and trees.

  • Observing the surroundings and scenery

  • Tasting the crispiness of the air while breathing

What is Forest Therapy?

“Come to the woods, for here is rest. There is no repose like that of the green deep woods.” — John Muir

We are each unique and our experience of Forest Therapy is as varied as we are. Our approach to this practice is welcoming, down to earth and person-led.

We work in a collaborative way with you and with the natural world to help you receive the maximum benefits of spending your precious time outdoors. You will be sensitively and skilfully guided to find ways of enjoying the richness of the natural world in a way that feels restorative for you - as an individual or as part of a group.

Everything is offered on an invitational basis so that you are welcome to be just as you are, can move at your own pace and find ways to relax into the natural world that suit you.

Testimonials

  • "Forest Therapy with Ava has been a game changer. I now can't imagine my life without it.

Ava has the rare gift of holding a group with a light touch, so that there is total permission and freedom to express ourselves. She creates a welcome, warm space in which all feelings are valid. She listens with such presence and care that her reflections always strike a chord, and I feel as though I have been seen.

She seems to me to be a person of deep integrity and authenticity; a person who brings herself to the experience, so that the sessions do not have the sense of us and them, but of all of us together.”
